There had been encouraging results of treatment at American centres.. Emphasis was being placed on early diagnosis, and further education of the public. Statistics adduced showed that known cancer cures of all types without recurrence m five years totalled 24,448. Professor Whitehouse, representative of the British College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, said cancer was undoubtedly increasing in England and Wales; 60,718 persons had died m tne last twelve months.
