WAIWAKAIHO LADIES’ GOLF
GOOD SCORES IN FLAG MATCH. PROGRESS OF CHAMPIONSHIPS. Two good performances won the flag matches played yesterday at Waiwakaiho by the New Plymouth Ladies’ Golf Club. Mrs. Fisher took the senior flag to the 18th green and Miss Leatham took the junior one drive down the 19th fairway. Results in the club championships are: Senior—First Round. Mrs. Fisher beat Mrs. Mander 3 and 1. Mrs. Waddell beat Mrs. Russell 3 and 2. Miss Smart beat Mrs. Duff 6 and 5. , Mrs. Clark is to play Miss Gavin. Junior—Second Round. Miss Home beat Mrs. Monteath 2 and 1. Miss McMullan beat Mrs. Weston 8 and 7. Mrs. Rankin beat Mrs. Brewster 1 up. Miss Leatham beat Mrs. Wilson 5 and 3. C Grade —Second Round.
Mrs. Cartwright beat Miss Gentles 4 and 2. I
Miss Webster beat Mrs. Till 7 up. Miss Avery beat Mrs. Church 1 up at 22nd.
Mrs. Grainger beat Mrs. Lightband 1 up at 19th. C Grade—Third Round.
Miss Avery beat Mrs. Grainger 3 and 2. The club will play a L.G.U. match next week.
The Taranaki championships will be played at Waiwakaiho on October 5, 6 and 7. Entries will close on Monday.
