ALCOHOL FROM WHEAT
EXPERT DOUBTS PROPOSITION.
COMPETITION OF GASOLENE.

A plant to produce industrial alcohol from surplus wheat would be a doubtful business proposition, states Professor J. H. Shipley, University of Alberta, in a report to the Calgary Trade Board. In Europe, Professor Shipley states, the manufacture of ethyl alcohol' from farm products cannot compete with the use of gasolene as fuel, due. to the relatively high price of these products for food purposes. Wherever alcohol is used in Europe as fuel it has Government aid.
