Miss Peggy Wylds, of Hawera and New Plymouth, who has been the guest of Mrs. Wanklyn, has returned to New Plymouth. Miss Wylds danced with conspicuous success as a member of the Coster Variety Company at the bulb show on Thursday night. Miss Beulah Burke leaves by car on Sunday for a month’s holiday at Auckland. \

Mrs. A. Grant entertained at a jolly afternoon on Monday in honour of Mrs. D’Arcy Cameron, who leaves shortly to reside in Hawera. During the afternoon competitions were held and songs given by Mesdames Faris and Grant. Mrs. Moore, who has been visiting Mrs. C. Fetch, has returned to Taumarunui. Miss A. Walker, Wellington, who has been the guest of Mrs. Ban-ack, has returned.

Mrs. H. B. Nicholls has returned to Otakeho after visiting relatives at Inglewood.

Mrs. Cowan, Opotiki, is the guest of Mrs. Smith.

Mrs. George, Hastings, is the guest of Mrs. J. Peters.

Mrs. F. Cameron entertained at her new home on Wednesday at a delightful afternoon tea.

Mrs. Corbett, Wellington, who has been visiting Mrs. Barrack, left this week for Fiji, where she will make her new home.

Mrs. Adlam left on Thursday morning for Wanganui.

Mrs. Kaye, president of the Taranaki Women’s Institute, and Mrs. W. A. Brown, president of the Norfolk Road branch, visited the Eltham Institute on Wednesday evening, when a most interesting time was spent. Mrs. Brown demonstrated the making of rush baskets and ribbon-wood work.

Mrs. S. Williams, Ngamotu, who has been the guest of Mrs. Wheeler, Durham Road, has returned. Mrs. Henry Rise, Wellington, who has been visiting Mrs. D. E. L. Rose, Tarata, is now the guest of Mrs. Randolph Rose. Mrs. W. Coates, Auckland, is the guest of Mrs. F. Hodges, Durham Road. The Inglewood Cycle Club held a very successful euchre party and dance at the town hall on Tuesday evening to augment the funds of the mountain road race. Martin’s orchestra supplied good music.

The fortnightly flag bridge evening in aid of St. Andrew’s Church was held in the Parish Hall on Tuesday evening, the hostesses being Mrs. Dansie and Miss Brown. Supper was served by the ladies.

The bulb show on behalf of the Anglican Church in the town hall on Thursday night proved a great success. From 8.30 p.m. the Inglewood Coster Variety Company took the stage, and for an hour and a half the audience, the biggest for some time, was treated to a splendid programme. With the exception of Miss Peggy Wylds, the talented young dancer who delighted her audience, the company was all local The organisers were Mesdames Wanklyn and Faris, who were assisted by Mrs. Birch-Johnston. The company was unanimously voted a complete success. Miss Donnett, Palmerston North, who has been the guest of Mrs. Twist, has returned to her home.

Mrs. Payntor entertained a few friends on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Fields, who has been the guest of her daughter, Mrs. M. Allen, Durham Road, has returned to Wanganui. On Tuesday Mrs. Carter gave an afternoon tea for a few friends.
