N.P. HOME LEAGUE

“APRON SOCIAL” AND CONCERT. There was a good attendance at an “apron social” held by the New Plymouth Home League at the Salvation Army Citadel yesterday in aid of the sale of work funds. A musical programme opened with community singing, followed by prayers led by Captain Chandler, 'and the following items:— Pianoforte solo, “Fragments,” Miss G. Preacher; vocal solo, “God Bless the Sunset of My Heart,” Miss D. Cobb; violin solos, “Torrente” and “Cradle Song, Mr. J. Stevenson; vocal duet, "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross,” Captain and Mrs. Chandler; the • songsters, “Beautiful Christ” and “Song O’er the Mountains”; comet solo, Captain Chandler; vocal solo, Miss D. Cobb. Community singing led by Captain Chandler and -a Bible reading by Bandmaster Skellon were interspersed throughout the programme. Mrs. Skellon, secretary of the league, thanked those who had attended, and especially the performers.
