IMPROVING WEATHER

DECREASING SOUTHERLIES. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The weather will be rather unsettled at first over the North Island and northeast portion of the South Island, with scattered rain mainly on the east coast. The weather will be gradually improving and elsewhere will be fine. Temperatures will be cool. The recent shallow depression has passed eastward and a rather intense anti-cyclone is advancing to the Dominion. There will be south-easterly to southerly winds, moderate to fresh but decreasing gradually. Seas will be rough between Kaikoura and East Cape and in Cook Strait, and smooth to moderate elsewhere.
