OPENING IN FORTNIGHT
STRATFORD RAIL SERVICE EXPRESS FROM AUCKLAND SEPT. 3 SPECIAL CARS ADDED TO LIMITED. ANNOUNCEMENT BY MR. STERLING. By Telegraph-Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The tentative date of the opening of the Stratford-Okahukura. railway was announced to-day by Mr. H. H. Sterling, chairman of the Railways Board, who stated the line would be open for regular traffic on September 3. The line had not yet been finally inspected on behalf of the Railway Department but a preliminary inspection indicated that no difficulty was likely to arise to prevent ordinary working being comffioncec. on that date. _ . , . .. Mr. Sterling said special cars for the service over the new line would be attached to the Limited express from Auckland on nights when the team was being run to New Plymouth. The additional loading was made possible by the use of the new K engines, which had an ample margin of power to enable the Limited express schedule to be mai - tained notwithstanding the additional cars that would be attached to the tra n between Auckland and Taumarunu. . The first train wider the new tim--table will leave Auckland connected to the Limited express on Sunday, September 3.
