FAREWELL AT TANGARAKAU

DEPARTURE OF MR., COLLINGS. A large and representative gathering of residents of Tangarakau took place in the hall on Monday night, the occasion being a farewell social to Mr. P. Collings, a prominent resident of. Tangarakau who is leaving the district to reside at New’ Plymouth. Mr. Sinclair, chairman, made reference to the many good qualities of the guest and made particular mention of Mr. Collings’ activities in the interest of. the various sports bodies in * the community. Mr. W. Shanks referred to the part Mr. Collings took in forming the Medical Association, and of - the good work he did in rendering first aid to the people of the district before the arrival of a doctor or nurse. Mr. Sinclair asked Mr. Collings to, accept a cheque as a token of the esteem in which he was held by the people, and wished him success. In reply Mr. Collings said, that while he regretted leaving the district after so many years’ residence there he was glad to know that anything he had done for the betterment of the community 1 had been appreciated by the people.
