MR. HOOKER’S APPOINTMENT
Sir,—Mr. Hooker’s explanation of his appointment to assist coroners is not convincing. His reference “and- other experts” obviously . assumes that he was appointed as an expert. If the appointment was made over 12 months ago I am wondering why publication was so long delayed. It appears also that the appointment was something, of a mutual arrangement between Mr. Harper and himself, and not as a recommendation from representative bodies in Taranaki. To my mind it is a very unusual procedure for a man to be appointed merely because he knows a number of climbers.—l am, etc., CURIOUS. Eltham, August 17.
