RESULTS OF LADIES’ MATCH. George, Miss Limmer plays Miss Wakely, Mrs. S. George plays Miss Nosworthy, Mrs. Barclay plays Miss Gaw. Purdie Wins JoII Cup. On the Manakorihi links on Thursday afternoon E. A., George and D. H. Purdie, met to , decide the Joll Cup, t which was won 1 • D. H. Furdie 3 up' and 2 to play. George conceded three strokes. The weather was ideal and some good golf was played. Purdie’s scores for tlie first four holes were 4,4, 3,4, leaving George 4 down. George then pulled up and at the 11th. hole had gained 3. The 12th went to Purdie and the 13th to George. Purdie won the 14th, halved the 15th and won the 16th.

Sports Club Dance. The third annual old-time dance under the auspices of the Waitafa Cycle, Athletic and Akenien’s Club was held in the Clifton Hall on Thursday night, and proved successful and enjoyable. About 100 couples were present. Tile music was supplied by Martin’s orchestra. An excellent supper was provided.., Mes-. dames S. D. George, L. Old, L. Andrews, J. Barras, Munro, J. Eriwata and R. Neil being in charge. Messrs. R. Grant and E. Spurdie were the masters of ceremonies.

Successes at School. The Waitara State' school broke up on Friday morning for the term holidays. In the unavoidable absence of Mr. W. B. Glasgow, chairman of the school committee, Mrs. Glasgow presented ’ the Deare Shield, the Herbert Smith Trust Cup and the North Taranaki championship banner to the successful basketball players, and congratulated them and their coach (Miss Martin) on their fine performances. The Clifton third grade Rugby team to play Star at Waitara to-day will be: O’Carroll (2), Roberts, Rowe, Jupp, Wingrove, Leppard, Longstaff, Willison, Aubrey, Niwa, Cole, Gaylor, Parkes, Herbert.
