LADIES' COLE TROPHY. The Opunake Ladies’ Golf Club on Wednesday played the final for the trophy presented by the president, Mrs. Fraser. Mrs. Brennan won and reduced here L.G.U. handicap to 21.
An Opunake' resident closed down his wheelwright business about 12 years ago owing to the motor vehicles superseding the horse-drawn vehicles. Tire position is now reversed to some extent and the tradesman has unpacked his tools and recommenced J is old trade. The Federal Band members with the assistance of the Town Board have had a stove installed in the bandroom. The members appreciate the change in the temperature of the room.
Coastal farmers have commenced the new dairy season in earnest. Lorry loads of bobby calves have been coming in to Opunake during the past three weeks. Grass is growing steadily, although frosts and cold winds prevailed recently. The Gymnasium Club cleared £2l from the recent wrestling and boxing tournament. The erection of a large workshop by a local firm of builders indicates faith in Opunake.
