PRESENTATION AT KORITO.

SUCCESSES OF THE CHILDREN. The keen interest that is being taken in the Boys and Girls’ Agricultural Clubs in the country districts was clearly shown at Korito last, night, when the schoolroom was packed at the presentation of certificates. Among those present were Messrs. S. G. Smith, M.P., chairman of the Taranaki Education Board. Mr. A. E. Washer, president of the Boys arid Girls’ Clubs, Messrs. D. Mackay, H. W. Insull and W. P. Okey. Mr. Washer congratulated the school on its fine display of calves, the quality of which had been' proved by the fact that they had gained a chamiponship. The pupils were doing good work and he was sure they would continue to do so. He presented the calf-rearing certificates of merit as follow: Lorna Ashman (first and championship cup), Iris Herbert, Doris .Weston, John Keast and Monica Millar. In connection with the home garden plots competition Mr. D. Mackay presented the following certificates: Senior, Loma Ashman 1, Joyce Herbert 2; junior,. Betty Weston; special prize, Joyce Herbert. ' ;• Mr, Smith said-he would like to add his congratulations to Mr. Washer’s. .He also paid tribute to the splendid, assistance given by the parents. He presented the following swimming certificates:. 200 yards, Raymond Woodward; 150 yards, Joyce Herbert; 50 yards, Doris Weston, Betty Weston, Jea.l Hine, Montie Woodward, Oma' Peters, 'Wilfred Woodward, Myra Smith. Sewing prizes were presented by Mrs. Parker to Loma Ashman, Joyce Herbert, Orma Peters, Jean Hine and Doris Weston. , _ The school, children presented a fine programme which was warmly appreciated. They showed that they had had very careful training. The chairman of the school committee expressed , appreciation of the excellent work the mistress, Miss C. A. Lewis, was doing. Following is the programme: Two songs, the school; recitation, Iris Herbert; action song, the school;, recitation, Jean Hine; song, children; piano solo, Betty Weston; recitations, Pat Miller, Doreen May, Hughie Peters; musical drill, senior girls; song, school; song, Joyce Herbert, Oma Peters and Loma Ashman; closing item, recitations and lullaby. Supper was served by the ladies after the presentation and the room was then cleared for dancing.
