WHITELEY CHURCH CHOIR
CONCERT AT INGLEWOOD. The Whiteley Church choir, New Plymouth, gave a concert in aid of the Inglewood Methodist Church circuit fund at the Inglewood Parish Hall last night. It was much appreciated by an audience that filled the hall. Items rendered were: Part song, “O Gladsome Light”; solo, Miss T. Burgess; choir part songs, “Londonderry Air” and “Hail! Smiling Morn”; recitation, Mrs. Nelson Hill, “Two Hungry Boys Looking Through a Window” and encore, “The Maori Woman Goes to Wellington”; choir, “The Lost Chord”; solo, Mrs. P. C. Davie, “Mother’s Eyes,” “Give Me Youth in the Day”; choir part songs; pianoforte solo, Mrs. Cooper; choir, “Shine On”; solo, Miss F. Sutherland (encored); choir, anthem, “Holy Art Thou”; solo, the choirmaster, Mr. R. L. Cooper (encored); choir, “Angelus,” from “Maritana,” “Canadian Boat Song”; recitation, Mrs. Nelson Hill, “Carry Oh” and encores, “Me and Garge” and “Going to School”; choir, “Silent Night” and “Departure”; solo, Mrs. P. C. Davie, “Cuckoo,” and “Soft Day”; choir, “Hail to the Chief.”
The Rev. Ackland thanked the visitors. All thought it a privilege to listen to such a fine night’s entertainment.
