DEFICIENCY ABOUT £50,000

SYDNEY LAWYER'S SUICIDE

ESTATE IN COMPLETE CHAOS

NO RECORD OF TRUST MONEY

LAWS OF STATE INDICTED

By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright

Rec. 7.40 pun. Sydney, Aug. 17. Mr. Claude Roach, trustee in bankruptcy, presenting a report to a meeting of creditors in the estate of the late Arthur Davies, solicitor, who committed suicide recently, disclosed a deficiency of approximately £50,000. Davies’ affairs were in an impossible state. No books were kept—not even a trust cash book or ledger. The only records of bankrupt’s transactions were cheque butts. Mr. Roach described this bankruptcy as one of the worst of its kind, and a perfect example of what the law of the State allowed. It did not even require a person handling trust funds to keep proper books.
