RELIEF OF UNEMPLOYMENT

WIDESPREAD WORK IN BRITAIN. LEAD GIVEN BY THE PRINCE. (British Official Wireless.) Rec. 5.5 p.m. Rugby, Aug. 14. Largely as a result of the lead given by the Prince of Wales in fostering local social work some fresh efforts have been undertaken and something of practical value accomplished by personal initiative and local combination of forces in many villages and almost every town. The council is in touch with 340 towns and villages where efforts are being made to face the local problem of unemployment and many thousands of men and women are taking part. In addition the council is interested in 600 schemes operating for training, employment and entertainment of the unemployed.
