MORE MONTE CARLOS

FRANCE ALLOWS ROULETTE. Roulette and trente et quarante—the games which hitherto have been forbidden in France, but made the fortunes of Monte Carlo—are being played this season at the Casinos at Deauville, Le Louquet, Vichy, Cannes and Biarritz. Because of the huge fall in the gambling profits of the various French casinos ill recent years and of the desperate financial position, of most of these establishments, a request was placed before the Government by the Union of Casino Managers to allow these forbidden games. The Commission appointed by the Minister of the Interior made a favourable report and the Minister gave his approval, which was sanctioned by a Cab-' inet Council. It is expected that other casinos on the Normandy and Brittany coasts will also demand permission, to have roulette tables.
