WAVERLEY PLUNKET BALL

EFFECTIVE DECORATIONS.

The annual Plunket ball, which took place at Waverley on Friday, was a great success. Decorations under Mr. D. Dalrymple’s management were carried out with streamers and coloured lights, with festoons of red and green on the walls. A large and very realistic stork was tire centre of interest on the stage, whilst the supper room was gay with the orange shades of Iceland poppies and bulbs, the work of Mesdames Wallace and D. Lupton. Wills’ orchestra supplied the music. An innovation for Waverley was the supper totalisator, which provided keen competition. The excellent supper was the result of the splendid efforts of Mrs. J. Currie and a band of • energetic helpers. Amongst those present were Mesdames J. Currie, Graves, Simmons, Haddow (both of Patea), Dallison, D. Lupton, Boyne, Wallace, Berridge, Heginbctham, Hamilton, J. J. Johnston, Taunton, Barton (Wanganui), McNab (Wanganui), Misses Hurrell, J. Lupton, Svenson, S. Richardson, B. Wallis, D. Roberts (Patea), Beer, Mitcalfe, R. Sneddon (Patea), Smith (Wellington), Spurdie, Petersen, Harris (all of Patea), Blair (Maxwell), Elmslie (2), Graham (2), Leo, Hair, Dallison, N. Mathieson, S. Lovell (Hawera), C. Walkinton, J. Parsons, M. Brewer, Hammond, Mitchell, Hopkinson, P. Simmons, H. Simmons (both of Patea), Alexander (3), Duffy and D. Simson.
