SPORT AND PERSONAL ITEMS. The fortnightly euchre and dance party in the Lincoln Road hall was well attended. Mr. 'E. Dobson had charge of the euchre and the prizes were won by Mrs. Morrow and Mr. A. O’Byrno after a re-play with Mr. McMahon. The music for the dance was played by Mrs Trass, an extra being given by Mr. P. O’Callaghan. .The Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss J. Rowan and Mr. R. Young. Mr. R. Young was master of ceremonies. At the weekly basketball game Red defeated Green by five goals to two. The goals for Red were thrown by Miss M. Wheatley (two) and Miss E. Bennett (three) and those for Green by Misa N. Sarten. Miss H. Bridgeman was the referee. The Waitoriki football team met the Pukerangiora fifteen in a return match played at Mr. G. Mehrten’s paddock during the Week-end. Pukerangiora had the advantage of the wind in the first spell and the half-time score was three all. In the second spell Waitoriki added an extra 11 points, the final score being Waitoriki 14, Pukerangiora 3. Mr. R. Miles refereed. Waitoriki drew with Hurangi (3-all) the previous Sunday, Huirangi not winning as was reported. Mrs. Mehrtens has returned from a holiday. Mrs. and Miss Bleakley, who have been staying with Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Pennington, have returned to New Plymouth. Miss Phyllis Mehrtens has returned from New Plymouth. Mrs. C. Owen is a patient in the New Plymouth public hospital. Mrs. C. Pattinson has returned from Stratford. While going to Inglewood in his car one day last week, Mr. G. E. Elliot collided with a bull owned by Mr. Cheyne. The car was considerably damaged and the bull had to be destroyed.
