The well-known Melbourne Corner is literally bristling with bargains just now in consequence of Scanlan’s great Winter Sale being in full swing. Further bargains have been brought forward in ordei' to clear up the remains of winter stocks prior to tire beginning of the new season, and prices have been literally “cut to the bone.”* Bob Wearer was always buying new felt hats, until he discovered that his old ones could be cleaned and reblocked equal to new. He now saves pounds every year by having them renovated by J. K. Hawkins and Co., who have the most up-to-date plant in Taranaki for this class of work. New bands and edges can also be supplied if necessary. Suits, costumes, coats, dresses, etc., are also successfully dyed ors dry-cleaned by the latest methods.
