RATIONED TEACHERS.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—ln reference to the above I would like to convey my congratulations to the Education Board for the manner in which it dealt with the matter, although one member evidently did not altogether understand our protest, as we do not condemn the teacher but the principle of rationing. I would also like to thank you for your thoughtful sub-leader on the subject. In view of the general approval of our protest we hope that a remedy will be soon forthcoming, and I am sure that if the opinions of our Education Board members are given the hearing they deserve such will soon be the case. Mr. Henry, the acting-senior inspector, pointed out that I was in error in saying that we had six rationed Reachers, whereas we had four rationed teachers and two relieving teachers. This seems to me a mere quibble, as I un-derstand-the two relieving teachers were on rationed teachers’ salary. If so, where is the difference? lam convinced that it is these constant changes that are so harmful to the children, notwithstanding J. -. Henry’s contrary opinion. Again thanking you for the publicity given to this most important matter.— I am, etc., . TRED. A. COLEMAN, Chairman, Central School Committee. New Plymouth, July 20.
