JUDGMENTS FOR DEBT

CLAIMS MADE AT NEW PLYMOUTH. . Judgment by default was given by Mr. W. H. Woodward, S.M., on the following claims for debt at New Plymouth yesterday: Ruby E. Goodin v. Sidney L. Goodin, £ll3 2s. 6d. (costs £6 2s. 6d.); S. A. Whittle v. George Tippins, £9 10s. (£1 10s. 6d.); Booth, MacDonald and Co. v. E. Johnson, £1 15s. (10s.); Weston and Billing v. J. G. Boulton, £1 Us. 6d. (8s.); Newton King, Ltd. v. Roy Thomas Russ, £4 4s. 2d. (£1 9s. 6d.); Kiwi Service Station, Ltd. v. W. Brosnahan, £1 9s. (95.); L. A. Nolan and Co. v. W. Bennie, £1 18s. 6d.. (10s.). : In connection with the part-heard claim of J. B. Mac Ewan and Co. (Mr. C. H. Croker) against Mrs. M. J. Clarke (Mr. R. H. Quilliam), a claim for a. deposit on a radio set, Mr. Croker announced a settlement, the terms of which were that all charges of fraud were publicly and unreservedly withdrawn by the defendant. The contract was' cancelled conditionally on an undertaking by the defendant not to instal another radio, set within 12 months; the aerial erected gratis by the plaintiffs to be removed and returned to them; the defendant to pay the plaintiff’s £2 costs, and the action to be struck out. Counsel said the plaintiffs had taken action, on principle. They did not want any money out of the case, and the costs would be donated to Welcome Lodge.
