BENZINE STOLEN FROM CAR
WARNING TO RELIEF WORKERS. TWO MEN FINED AT LOWER HUTT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, July P. A warning to relief workers that they could not expect, because of their position, to be indemnified from the consequences of their acts, was issued by the magistrate, Mr. J. S. Barton, at the, Lower Hutt Court to-day when two married relief workers pleaded guilty to stealing benzine from motor-cars. It was stated that accused were found syphoning the benzine, the police adding that the case was serious as many complaints of benzine thefts had been received. “Relief workers cannot with impunity make war on the rest of the community that is helping them,” said the magistrate, who fined each accused £l, saying that this would be as much to them as £3 or £5 would mean to a man in normal work.
