BURGLARS AT WELLINGTON. ■ WANGANUI SILVER THIEF. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, July 19. Prisoners sentenced by Mr. Justice MacGregor in the Supreme Court were: William George John Durning, 18 months’ reformative detention, and James Lawrence Jamieson Tait, two years’ reformative detention for breaking, entering and theft. Frederick John McDonald, two years’ imprisonment for breaking and entering with intent to commit a crime. Hector George Grey, breaking, entering and theft, two charges of false pretences, and a breach of his probation license, two years’ imprisonment on each charge, sentences to be concurrent. George William Attewell, Joseph Trevor Dunn and Samuel Jamieson McKee, 18 months’ reformative detention each for breaking and entering with intent to commit a criihe. Leslie King, charged with forgery and uttering, was released and ordered to come up for sentence within the next two years, subject to the payment by him of the costs of the prosecution and his making restitution of £5 13s 4d. Victoria Plihou, two charges of breaking, entering and theft, two years’ imprisonment on each charge (concurrent). John Raymond Smith and Lawrence Campbell Smith, breaking, entering and theft, 18 months’ reformative detention. John Ralph Penny, taxi-driver, who was before the court at Wanganui on June 21 in connection with the theft of silver, was sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment. SENTENCE .OF TWO YEARS. BREAKING AND ENTERING BY DAY. Blenheim, July 19. In the Supreme Court Osmond Norman Connolly was sentenced to two years’ reformative detention for breaking and entering by day and theft. WANGANUI THEFT CHARGE. ' MAN ARRESTED AT AUCKLAND. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. Arrested this afternoon, Hugh Glover, aged 33, motor driver, appeared in the Police Court charged that at Wanganui on June 14 he stole £Bl3 in silver, the property of William Toomey. He was remanded to appear at Wanganui on Friday.
