CHAIN OF AERODROMES

PROPOSAL FROM CHRISTCHURCH. SUPPORT FROM STRATFORD CLUB. Commendation of the move of the New Zealand aero clubs in urging upon the Minister of Defence at Christchurch last week the establishment of a chain of aerodromes and of the encouragement given by Mr. Cobbe was expressed to a'News reporter yesterday by Mr. J. C. Robins, president of the Stratford Aero Club. The idea of a chain Of landing grounds throughout New Zealand was a good one, said Mr. Robins, and as far as the Stratford Club was concerned, once the » new landing ground was in order it was intended to make it a public' ground, although the aero club would control the ground and maintain the buildings. That was their aim, and he was glad to see the Minister was in accord with . it. No work is being done on the aerodrome yet as no valuation figures have been received from the Railway Department to enable the fixing of an upset rental.
