HEAVY RAIN ON WEST COAST

SOME DAMAGE TO RAILWAY.

APPROACH TO .BRIDGE GONE.'

By Telegraph—Press Association. Greymouth, July 15.

Heavy rain has fallen throughout the district, there being six inches at Greymouth in 48 hours. A railway washout between Ross and Hokitika prevented traffic this morning and a slip near Westport blocked the Coast road until late this afternoon.

The approach to the Wainihinihi bridge on the Otira road was washed away. A car was partly buried by a slip at Rocky Point, but the driver was uninjured. The weather is now improving.
