NEW TIME-TABLE ISSUED

SAVING OF NEARLY 11 HOURS NEW PLYMOUTH>-AUCKLAND TRAIN NIGHT EXPRESS THROUGH OHURA. STRATFORD-MAIN TRUNK ROUTE. The authorised time-table for the passenger services shortly to be inaugurated on the Stratford-Main Trunk railway has been issued, a copy having been received by Mr. E. Shaw, president of the Taranaki Chamber of Commerce, from the stationmaster at New Plymouth, Mr. W. G. Stewart. Nothing definite is known yet concerning the date the services are to be introduced, but the Railways Board will make an announcement in due course. The present service between New Plymouth and Hawera, Wanganui and Wellington, is not to be altered, but on Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights, at 7.10, an express is to leave New Plymouth to reach Taumarunui at 12.50 а. in time to connect with the northbound express at 1.22 a.m., arriving at Auckland at 7.6 a.m. The feature of the new time-table is that passage by this night express will mean a saving of about 10j hours between New Plymouth and Auckland; instead of leaving New Plymouth at 8.25 a.m., as at present, the passenger will leave at 7.10 p.m. to reach Auckland by 7.6 next morning. Even on days when the night express will not run, it will be possible to save about five hours on the journey by catching the 1.45 p.m. train from New Plymouth and connecting at Taumarunui with the express arriving at Auckland at 7.6 a.m. Similar advantages are provided on the southward journey. The express that leaves Auckland for Wellington at 7 p.m. will on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays take cars, and a sleeper to be dropped at Taumarunui at 12.22 a.m. next day and attached to an express scheduled to leave Taumarunui foy Taranaki at 12.45 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. This train will depart from Ohura at 1.47 a.m., Tangarakau at 2.45, Whangamomona at 3.24, and Te Wera at 3.58, and will arrive at Stratford at 4.56 a.m. It will leave Stratford at 5.4 a.m., Inglewood at 5.29, and Lepperton at 5.44, arriving at New Plymouth at 6.1. In addition to the stations mentioned the train will stop if required at Matiere, Tokirima, Tahora and Douglas. Passengers for South Taranaki will be able to leave Stratford at 5.20 a.m. for Hawera and intermediate stations; this train will leave Eltham at 5.45 a.m. and arrive at Hawera at б. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays passengers leaving Auckland by the 7 p.m. Wellington express may get through to Taranaki by a train departing from Taumarunui at 3 a.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, from Okahukura at 3.45, Ohura at 5.27, Tangarakau at 7.5, Whangamomona at 8.10, Te Wera at 8.57, Toko at 10.10 (stopping at any other stations required) and arriving at Stratford at 10.50 a.m. and connecting with the Wanganui Flyer leaving at 11.56 a.m. .and arriving at New Plymouth at 1 p.m. Passengers for Hawera and intermediate stations may connect with the 1.45 p.m. train from New Plymouth, leaving Stratford at 3 p.m. for Hawera. A goods train, with a passenger car attached, will leave Taumarunui at 6 p.m. daily, except on Saturday, arriving at Ohura at 8.20, Tangarakau at 10.28,, Whangamomona at 11.40 and arriving at Stratford at 2.3 a.m. On Saturday nights a train will leave Taumarunui for Ohura at 6.5, arriving at Ohura at 7.40. TARANAKI TO AUCKLAND. Travelling the other way, an express will leave New Plymouth at 7.10 p.m. on Mondays,' Wednesdays and Fridays, Lepperton at 7.33, Inglewood at 7.53, arriving at Stratford at 8.23 and departing thence at 8.31 for Te Wera. Te Wera will be left at 9.28, Whangamomona at 10.4, Tangarakau at 10.44, Ohura at 11.46 p.m., and arriving at Taumarunui at 12.50 а. to catch the north-bound express leaving at 1.22 a.m. and arriving at Auckland at 7.6 a.m.; between Stratford and Taumarunui this train will also stop if desired at Douglas,. Tahora, Tokirima and Matiere. Passengers from south of Stratford may connect with the train by catching the ordinary Wellington-New Plymouth express, which leaves Hawera at 6.2 p.m. and arrives at Stratford at б. p.m.

Except on Saturdays, on the days that the night express from New Plymouth will not run passengers for Auckland via the Ohura route may travel from New Plymouth by the train leaving at 1.45 p.m. and connect with the 4.15 train out of Stratford, arriving at Taumarunui at 11.10 p.m., connecting with the express from Wellington at 1.22 a.m., and reaching Auckland at 7.6 a.m. A goods train, with a passenger car attached, will leave Stratford at 5.36 a.m, and (stopping where required) will travel through the Ohura on the following schedule: Whangamomona depart 8.3 a.m., Tangarakau 8.52, Ohura 10.30, Matiere 11.13, arriving at Taumarunui at 12.20 p.m. Passengers by this train may leave Taumarunui at 2 p.m. By the train arriving at Frankton Junction at 8.4 p.m., leaving at 8.37 and reaching Auckland at 11 p.m. On Saturdays a train will leave Ohura at 8.10 p.m. and an-ive at Taumarunui at 9.39, and a train will leave Stratford at 7 p.m. and, stopping where required en route, will arrive at its destination, Tangarakau, at 10.4 .m. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, passengers leaving New Plymouth by the express at 7.10 p.m. may reach stations south of Taumarunui by catching the Limited leaving Taumarunui at 12.30 and arriving at Okahukura at 2.45, Marton at 5.47, Palmerston North at 6.44 and Wellington at 9.41 a.m. On Tuesdays and Thursdays passengers for destinations in the same direction may take the 1.45 p.m. train from New Plymouth and arrive at Taumarunui in time to catch the south-bound Limited.
