HEAVY RAIN EXPERIENCED. SLIP IN GREYMOUTH BOROUGH. By Telegraph—Press Association. Greymouth, Last Night. North-west gales for the past 36 hours produced general rain along the. West Coast. There was some flooding in the Hokitika, Kokatahi, Waimea and Kamaka districts. To-night a slip occurred on the Omoto Road, inside the Greymouth borough boundary, over a thousand cubic yards of material moving for the width of a chain, but the road i» not blocked. There was a strong flood to-night m the Grey River, which indicates flooding about 3 a.m. in the Omoto and Coal Creek areas. The rain has been heavy up the Grey Valley and at Ina* ngahua. The rainfall in South Westland was five and a-quarter inches for 24 hours. A similar quantity fell in the Grey district for ’6 hours. The weather is now improving.
