Mrs. and Miss Markby, Auckland, are the guests of Mrs. A. Guthrie, Midhirst. Mrs. F. J. Peek, Tahuna, is the guest of her father, Mr. W. F. Clemow, Brecon Road. MANAIA ITEMS. Mrs. L. A. Walters, president of the Manaia' branch of the W.D.F.U., is at present in Wellington attending the annual conference. Mr. and Mrs. V. Winter are spending a holiday in Wellington. Mrs. C. Jeromson has returned to Manaia after a three weeks’ visit to Wellington. Mr. and Mi’s. Cotterell are at present in Wellington. Mr- F. Dick is an inmate of the Hawera Hospital with a poisoned leg. Alpine Chib at Home. The Mt. Egmont Alpine Club’s “at home” was attended by a large number of visitors and local members. On Saturday night a most enjoyable dance was held. Amongst those present were Misses Peggy Bond, M. Shaw, M. Peake, O. Firth, R. Bassett, H. Bassett-Smith (Wanganui), M- Bayley (Feiidmg), V. MacIndoe, G. Griffin (New' Plymouth); E. Carson (Hawera).
