WATERLOO CUP COURSING
FINE COURSES AT BRIXTON INTERESTING STAGES REACHED. PROGRESS IN THREE EVENTS. The New Zealand Waterloo Cup coursing was continued at the Waitara Coursing Club’s plumpton at Brixton yesterday in perfect weather. The attendance was good. -j, The first and second rounds of the Waterloo Purse, the third round of the Waterloo Cup and the first round of the Waterloo Plate were run._ The prize money for the Waterloo Cup is: First £3O and cup valued at £2O, seconds £lO, two , dogs each at £5 5s and three dogs each £4 4s. The Waterloo Purse: First prize £lO, second £5 5s and two dogs each at £4 4s. The Waterloo Plate: First prize £7 7s, second £5 ss. The coursing was of a high standard and the judge must have found it difficult to come to a decision on some of the events. WATERLOO PURSE. The first round of the purse resulted as follows:— Black Leather (5) beat No Doubt (2). Black Leather led and outworked No Doubt. King of Spades (6J) beat Hurly Burly (5). The winner led up and even work followed, King of Spades gaining the advantage over Hurly Burly in a weilfought contest. Master Fearnought' (6) beat Silver Hope (4*). Master Fearnought led and took the first two turns. Silver Hope got in for some close wofle, Fearnought then getting in to win the course. Black Terms (9) beat Lightning (3P. Black Terms led and took two turns, followed by several wrenches.. Lightning then got a turn. The hare .swept across and placed Black Terms for another two wrenches, Lightning taking five .wrenches. Hamilton Moth (2) beat Play Area (1). In a long run to the hare there was no lead, Hamilton Moth taking the first two turns and. Play Area taking one turn only. The hare escaped after not Toeing forced to turn again. The Stinger (9*) beat Biddy’s Boy (2). The Stinger led up and took the first five turns. Biddy’s Boy got in and secured a turn. The Stinger again got in for a turn and five wrenches, Biddy’s Boy getting another turn before the hare escaped. Miss Terms ran a bye. Second Round. Black Leather (51) beat King of Spades (lj). King of Spades was temporarily unsighted and no lead was given. Black 1 Leather took two turns, then King of Spades secured one turn. Black Leather took the next. A wrench went to King of Spades and a further turn, and a wrench and a turn to Black Leather. Black Terms (10) beat Master Fearnought (7j). This was the best, course of the day. Black Terms 16d by two lengths, turned and wrenched three times, faster Fearnought then got in for a turn, a wrench and a turn, Black Terms then taking two wrenches and a turn, and Master Fearnought taking a wrench and a turn. Black Terms again got in for two wrenches and a turn. Master Fearnought took itwo turns and a wrench and a turn, and Black Terms three more wrenches. Miss Terms (6A) beat Hamilton Moth (2). Miss Terms led to a wrenching hare by one length, taking the first two turns and two wrenches. HamiltonMoth got in for one turn. Two more wrenches went to Miss Terms and another turn to Hamilton Moth, Miss Terms finishing with a wrench and a turn. - ~ . ‘ ; ‘‘ The Stinger ran a bye. WATERLOO CUP. ' ■ Third Round., ' ' King Paph (6) beat Sporting Pal (2). In a long lead King Paph led by four lengths and. turned. Sporting Pal got in for two turns and then King Paph got in for another two turns, showing most speed right through. \ •Lady Commoner (4) beat Limelight (1). Lady Commoner took the first four turns after reaching the hare, Limelight securing only one turn. There was n 0..! lead in this course owing to Limelight being unsighted three-quarters of the way up the ground. ... Just Peter (2) beat Barnaby Rudge. (0). Just Peter led and turned. The hare hit Barnaby Rudge m the teeth and was killed. •, - Yellow Bird ran a bye. WATERLOO PLATE. ' First Round. : Cabaretier (4) beat Tall Timber (1). Cabaretier led and turned.. Tall Timber then got in and secured one turn, . Cabaretier then making a clever drive and picking up cleanly. 1 Nukumai (5) beat Black Bat (3). Nukumai led and turned. Black Bat then turned. Two more turns went to Nuku- • mai and another to Black Bat and two wrenches, Nukumai taking the last turn. What a Smile (10J) beat Lady Andy (9). Lady Andy led by two lengths and .turned, What a Smile getting the next turn. Lady Andy then got in for three turns. What a Smile took three turns and 'Lady Andy two more, What a Smile one, Lady Andy one and What a Smile one turn, a wrench and four turns. The slow-working hare did not suit Lady Andy’s pace. There are four dogs, now left in the cup. King Path will meet Lady Com-, moner and Just Peter will meet Yellpw Bird, and the final will be decided between the two winners. In the purse there are four dogs. Black Leather will meet Black Terms and Miss Terms will meet The Stinger, the two winners to meet in the final. In the Waterloo Plate three only are left in, Cabaretier, Nukumai and What a Smile. What a Smile has the bye and will meet the winner of Cabaretier and Nukumai in the final. A post entry consolation course will be held for all dogs that have not won any prize money at the. meeting.
