MEETING AT OKAIAWA. . The first monthly meeting of the Okaiawa Maori Women’s Institute was held ni the Okaiawa mission house on Tuesday. Mrs. Rakena presided over an tendance of 17. The demonstration for the afternoon was rug making from old woven material. This was given by Mrs. Adams, Hawera, and all members were keenly interested. The competition for the • best darned stocking was judged by Mrs. Adams, Mrs. Rakena winning the prize. with Miss K. Rei and Miss J. Rei taking second and third places respectively. On the proposal of Mrs. Rakena, Mrs. Adams was accorded a vote of thanks by acclamation.

Afternoon tea was served, the hostesses for the afternoon being Sister Hobbs and Mrs. R, Phillips.
