HURFORD ROAD NEWS
GENERAL AND SOCIAL ITEMS, The Hurford school children were given a treat yesterday afternoon when they were all taken to New Plymouth by lorry to see the educational picture “Siege of the South.” An essay will probably be included in next week’s school programme to see how much they learned. The contractor, Mr. A. O. Brown, has commenced work at the factory and, given reasonably good weather, should have little trouble in completing the additions in the time limit allowed. The fifth of a series of euchre parties held on Thursday was again well patronised, 17 tables being engaged and several onlookers arriving late. The winners were Mrs. N. Berridge and Mr. C. Grey after a tie with Messrs. T. Walsh and R. Sharpe. An enjoyable dance was held after supper. Mrs. M. Reynolds played the music and Mr. T. Ryan was master of ceremonies. Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds and family are leaving the district at the end of the month..
