SOUTH TARANAKI STOCK. VALUE APPROXIMATELY £3OOO. h That there is still a demand for South Taranaki cattle in the Waikato is evidenced by the fact that 550 head of stock, mostly in-calf Jersey heifers, are being railed this week from stations from Kai Iwi to Opunake to various parts of the Waikato and east coast districts. Twentyeight waggon loads were railed from Hawera yesterday, and the balance of the total of the 44 waggons necessary will be dispatched duping the week. The Stratford-Main Trunk route is being used. and a consequent saving of £2 a truck to Waikato will be made. The whole of the stock has been purchased in South Taranaki through Newton King, Ltd. . , ' This is the largest consignment of stock that has left South Taranaki for Waikato for some time. Two truck loads of .in-calf heifers, and a similar consignment of wearier heifers, valued at £3OO, were forwarded to Waikato and east coast districts this week by the Hawera branch of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co.» Ltd.
