W.C.T.U. MEETING. The Inglewood branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union . met at Mrs. J. Young’s residence, Lincoln Road, when despite the wet weather there was a fair attendance of members. After the usual devotional service reports were received from the district executive meeting. Arrangements were then made for the coming visit of the Dominion organiser (Miss A. McKay). A very full and comprehensive programme was prepared including an “at home” for all women, a young people’s tea and social, and a Sunday afternoon social and moral hygiene meeting. The meeting closed with a vote of thanxs to Mrs. Young for her hospitality. Last Sunday afternoon under the auspices of the W.C.T.U. an address was given by Miss Gaustad on social influence and purity, and was greatly appreciated by all present. Rainfall at Rlversdale.
Miss Trimble reports that the rainfall at “Riversdale” for May totalled 15.21 inches with rain on 24 days, compared with 7.65 inches on 13 days for the same month of last year. The heaviest falls for the month were on May 1 when 4.32 inches fell and on May 3 when 2.66 inches fell and there were falls of over an inch on May 16, 22 and 31. The average rainfall for May is 9.94 inches while the wettest May experienced since the rainfall has been recorded was in 1903 when 28.2 inches fell, and the driest May was in 1919 when 3.71 inches fell.
