OKARITO GOLD PRODUCTION. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, May 28. The Okarito gold mining return is 183 oz. 2 dwt. for 120 hours. THE FORDELL SALE. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report on their Fordell sale held on May 25 as follows: “A good yarding of sheep came forward, well above advertised numbers, and buyers from Taranaki and Rangitikei were in attendance. Some very nice lines of w.f. wether lambs were yarded and keen bidding was experienced for the top lines. Two top lines from Scott Estate and Messrs. Mitchell Bros, made 9s 4d and 8s 9d respectively. A line of 320 fat and forward 6-tooth wethers from Mr. G. T. Phillips made Ils and a nice pen of 5-year ewes in-lamb to b.f. rams from Mr. W. Chamberlain made ‘9s 3d; a line of medium ewe and wether lambs from Addenbrooke Estate, Mangamahu, tasking 7s lid and 6s lid. FEILDING STOCK SALE. FAT LAMBS AND CATTLE FIRM. Feilding, May 25. Prices for fat lambs were again firm at the stock sale. With a heavy yarding, fat ewes were slightly easier, and the market for breeding ewes appears satisfied, and the large offering did not sell readily. The cattle yarding was light, with a slight improvement in prices. Store cattle moved steadily at late rates. There was good inquiry for dairy cattle, winter calvers being in good demand. Fat lambs: Primest heavy, 16s; prime, 15s to 15s lid; good, 13s 9d to 14s 9d; medium lines, 12s to 12s 8d; backward, from Ils. Maiden ewes, prime 13s, good 10s 3d; prime ewes, 9s lOd; good, 8s 2d to 8s 6d; medium, 7s 4d to 8s; light, from 6s. After providing for depreciation, the accounts of the Northern Steam Ship Company, Limited, show a loss of £2430 for the year ended March 31, compared with a profit of £6BlB in the previous year. The deficit has been written off by tlie transfer of a similar sum from No. 1 insurance account and the £lBl6 brought into the accounts from the previous year is again carried forward. No dividend is recommended, as against 5 per cent, last year, and previous distributions ranging from 7 to 8 per cent. In their report for the year the directors state that the net profit, after providing for ordinary repairs, but not for depreciation, amounted to £11,223. As the amount required for deoreciation is £13,653 and exceeds the net profit by £2340, tliis sum has been charged to No.

1 insurance account. Special repairs amounting to £6320 havej as usual, been charged to No. 1 insurance account, which now stands at £43,630, as against £51,339 a year ago. DAIRY PRODUCE. NEW ZEALAND BUTTER STEADY. CHEESE MARKET QUEST. There was a decline of Is a cwt in the price of New Zealand salted butter in London last week, the market ■ closing steady at 77s to 79s and up to 80s in some cases. The prices of Continental butters showed a greater decline, Danish spot closing at 86s to 88s, a fall of 6s a cwt on the week. Tlie market for Continental butters closed quiet. The retail price of New Zealand butter is unchanged, but that of Danish is expected to be reduced Id to lid a lb in the North of England this week. The cheese market closed steady, prices showing little alteration during the week.
