LECTURE IN NEW PLYMOUTH. ■' V - . COMMANDANT NEWTON SPEAKS. The . last meeting ,of the v Evangelistic campaign organised by the > mouth Corps of the Salvation Army was held last night, when Commandant Newton delivered a lantern lecture on’ the Holy Land and Egypt. The lecture was taken from a part of her tour round the world recently. Commandant Newton gave .some very vivid insights into the Holy Land, showing during the display of the slides the place where Christ was bom,, where He spent His childhood and His ministry, the places being Bethlehem, Nazareth and Galilee. She also showed Jerusalem as it is to-day. Commandant Newton also told how General Allenby captured Jerusalem during the war.. On notifying the War Office he got no satisfaction. He then sent a message to King George, who notified him to pray and use his discretion, at which he flew a squadron ‘of aeroplanes over and captured the city. The lecturer then went on to Egypt, to the city of Cairo, thence to the Pyramids.
