Mr. Masters Congratulated. Congratulations to the Hon. R. Masters, M.L.C., Minister of Education, Industries and Commerce, upon his appointment by Cabinet to accompany the Prime Minister to the World Economic Conference in London were conveyed by the Stratford Borough Council last night. Members felt that in the choice of Mr. Masters the Government had conferred an honour upon Mr. Masters and upon the town of Stratford as well. Short Notice. It was not until near midnight on Monday that Mrs. Masters was informed of Cabinet’s decision to send her husband, the Hon. R. Masters, M.L.C., Minister of Education, Industries and Commerce, with the Prime Minister to attend the world Economic Conference. Consequently, Mrs. Masters had to make the most hurried preparations in order to be able to leave Stratford by the express yesterday to join Mr. Masters at Wellington. She was accompanied by Mr. A. R. Masters, her daughters, Misses Z. and O. Masters, and Master Bob Masters. Mr. and Mrs. Masters expect to leave New Zealand on Friday. Canary and Cage Bird Show. The show to be held by the Stratford Canary and Cage Bird Club will take place in the town hall on June 8 and represents the first venture into the show field on ' the part of the club which, though formed only recently, is rapidly consolidating its position and has been promised support for the show from clubs at New Plymouth, Auckland, Hamilton and Huntly. The dub will not ex-

hibit at the Stratford winter show in July. Kokirima Personal Notes. Mrs. Leaning, Auckland, is the guest of Mr. A. Siteman. Mr. and Mrs. J. McKenzie, Timaru, are making a tour of the North Island and are at present the guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. F. McKenzie. Mr. Douglas Grant is home from Auckland for the holid :'s. Mrs. A. Sandilands learned of her mother’s death last week. Mrs. Sandiland went to England to visit her mother nearly two years ago. Butter Sale at 9d. It is reported that the Mangatoki Dairy Co. has sold its May-June make of butter at 9d per lb. Football Team. Following is the Eltham third grade football team to play Stratford at Taumata Park to-day: Leatham, Prestidge, Glentworth, Sheehy (2), Horrocks, Maslin, Doughty, Sharpe.
