The Canterbury Rugby Union decided last night to bring various matters concerning Ranfurly Shield challenges before the annual meeting of the New Zealand Union, members pointing out that there was. nothing in the rules governing the shield to prevent a team from, say, the north of Auckland travelling to the other end of New Zealand and loading all the expenses of the trip on to the gate-takings of the shield match with- the holders at. a time when the visiting team could not undertake the financing of an ordinary tour. The danger qf. such a practice reacting adversely on- the shield holders was stressed.
