FRASER ROAD SCHOOL YEAR

IMPROVEMENTS TO THE GROUNDS. Mr. J. Moller presided over a poor attendance of householders at Fraser Road. The annual report stated that the roll number at the end of 1932 was 73. At the opening of 1933 it numbered 66, but had increased to 67. The attendance had been satisfactory, averaging 59.1 per cent, for the year. It would have been higher had it not been for epidemics of whoop-ing-cough and mumps. , Miss R. M. Edgecombe left during the year for Moturoa. She was farewelled at a gathering of pupils, parents and residents and her place was taken by Miss M. F. Jackson. Miss I. Wells, who was transferred from Oakura. commenced her duties on February 1. During the year the school grounds were improved, the most noteworthy event being the laying down of the large area of concrete at the entrance to the schooL The floors of the shelter and bicycle shed were concreted and the agricultural plots re-fenced. z The school grounds were graded to allow drainage. Interest in the Boys and Girls’ Clubs’ competitions were well maintained during the year. The boys’ cricket club played several games and maintained an unbroken record. A junior Red Cross circle was formed and instructions and help was given by Sister SmalL The annual picnic was held in conjunction with the Rotokare school and proved successful. The committee was very pleased with the work done during the year.
