NEW HIGH SCHOOL MASTER
SUCCESSOR TO MR. J. W. CONNELL. The appointment of Mr. A. S. Nash, B.Agr.Sc., to the position, of agricultural master at the New Plymouth Boy’s High School in succession to Mr. J. W. Connell, who will leave for Waikato in the near future, was confirmed by a telegram from the Education Department to the High Schools Board yesterday. Mr. Nash is at present a temporary teacher at the South Otago Boys’ High School, Balclutha. An old boy of Timaru Boys’ High School, Mr. Nash graduated from Canterbury Agricultural College, Lincoln, in 1931. In addition to his academic qualifications he has gained a knowledge of practical farming by taking work on six South Island farms, specialising in such work as cropping, sheep and dairying. His sports record is a good one for he represented his school at Rugby in 1927 and played for the Canterbury (under 20 years) representatives in 1928. He then played for Lincoln College for three years. Mr. Nash has also had some success at athletics, tennis, golf and boxing and is keen on amateur theatrical work. There were ten applications for the position. ‘
