GIRL FLIER’S MISFORTUNE

PLANE CRASHES NEAR KARACHI ’ SEVERE SHOCK SUFFERED. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright Calcutta, April 17. Miss Batten suffered severe shock, necessitating medical aid, when her plane somersaulted and crashed on her arrival at Karachi. ’ The reason why the machine could not be previously discovered from the air was because friendly Baluchi tribesmen of Las Bela, fearing that the machine would be damaged by the raging sandstorms, protected it with camel cloths, completely camouflaging it, but they neglected to cover the engine, into which the sand penetrated, causing a misfire and stoppage after Miss Batten’s departure for Karachi.
