GALA AT TATARAIMAKA
EFFORT FOR HALL FUNDS. A good attendance favoured the Tataraimaka annual gala held in Mr. Riley’s paddock, Timaru Road, on Easter Monday. Unsettled weather in the morning manifested itself in a light shower or two, but the conditions improved in the afternoon, when the wind dropped and the sun shone warmly. The result was a success beyond the expectations of the promoters. Tire funds of the hall benefited by a considerable sum. Most of the sports were for children, but there were games and competitions for all and keen rivalry was displayed. The stalls were equally popular, and • before the gala was concluded they had been emptied of their wares. The organisation was all that could be desired. Mr. W. Young, the president, and Mr. W. McCarty, the honorary secretary, had the assistance of strong committees of men '-d women. A dance was held in the Tataraimaka hall in the evening, when there was a good attendance. The music was supplied by Martin’s orchestra. j
