FAREWELL TO MINISTER

DEPARTURE OF REV. R. B. GOSNELL. BIBLE CLASS AND SUNDAY SCHOOL. The Fitzroy Methodist hall was crowded on Saturday night for a farewell to the Rev. R. B. Gosnell and family by the Sunday school and Bißble classes. The concert under the direction of Mr. J. T. Griffin, superintendent, who later presented Mrs. Gosnell with a large box of stationery. He referred eulogistically to Mrs. Gosnell’s leadership of the girls’ Bible class of 32 members. Mr. Gosnell responded and paid a tribute to the faithful service of Mr. Griffin and the teachers. The children were entertained at supper, the older ones remaining to the farewell social that followed. Mr. L. Alsop, secretary of the young men’s Bible class, referred to the growth of the class from one member to its present strength under Mr. Gosnell’s leadership. Mr. Alsop, on behalf of the young men of Fitzroy, handed to Mr. Gosnell an engraved silver pencil, and to Master Noel Gosnell' a small reminder .of his stay at Fitzroy. Miss Margaret Alley, on behalf of the Fitzroy Young People’s Club, an association with an average attendance of about (50 and another branch of activity that the minister organised, presented Mr. Gosnell with a set of chessmen and board. In reply, Mr. Gosnell thanked everyone for their appreciation of what he. had endeavoured to accomplish. He spoke of the help he had received from different members of the gathering, and thanked the young people for the way in which they had appreciated Mrs. Gosnell’s help. At the conclusion of the Fitzroy Methodist intermediate girls’ Bible class yesterday afternoon, members "entertained their leader, Mrs. Gosnell, at afternoon tea. Miss Grace Giddy, on behalf of the class, presented Mrs. Gosnell with a stainless • salad knife and Miss Vieva Gosnell with a token of esteem from her fellow members.
