G. B. SHAW’S FORCED LANDING
PLANE ON CALIFORNIAN BEACH. PILOT LANDS SUCCESSFULLY. By Telegraph—Press Assn,— Copyright. Santa Monica (CaD, March 28. George Bernard Shaw and Mrs. Shaw had a forced landing to-day at the Malibu Beach cinematograph colony on a flight from San Simeon.to San Pedro. Light rain started to fall over the Cloverfield airport here, where Mr. Shaw was scheduled to land. The ceiling became dangerously low, and radio advice was sent to the plane directing it to land in some other Californian field. In the meantime the ceiling closed down on the plane as it followed the coast, The pilot, Ray Crawford, decided to act quickly, and zoomed down to a perilous but successful three-point landing on a narrow strip of sandy beach at the mouth of the Puerto Canyon, two miles north of the Malibu colony.. Mr. and Mrs. Shaw proceeded by, car to the film studio in Culver City.
