FITZROY SCHOOL AFFAIRS
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the Fitzroy School Committee was held last night, when there were present Messrs. J. A. Burr (chairman), A. S. Hunter, R. J. Kibby, C. A. Voullaire, W. Mackenzie, M. O’Donnell, S. J. Quickfall, H. Hall, E. Armitage (hon. secretary), and the headmaster (Mr. G. A. Lyall). The headmaster reported that during the past month the average attendance during the four weekly periods was 462.8, 465.7, 473 and 472.5, representing an average of over 96 per cent. During the month 15 pupils were admitted and 11 withdrawn, leaving the present roll number at 487. On the motion of the chairman it was decided to send a letter of thanks to the Rev. R. B. Gosnell, who is leaving New Plymouth shortly, expressing the committee’s appreciation of the lively interest he-has always taken in the school’s affairs. Prior to the committee meeting the Scout committee met. The report of the Scoutmaster (Mr. J. G. C. Leach) was read and adopted after a short discussion.
