A yarding of cattle, mostly cows and bullocks, was offered by Dalgety and Co., Ltd., at the Pahiatua cattle fair yesterday. The stock were in good condition, and competition for all lines was keen. Buyers were present from Rangitikei, Manawatu, Hawke’s Bay and Taranaki, and all secured good consignments. A total clearance of station-bred cattle was made. On account E. Whitcombe:. WAIPUKURAU SALE. FAT EWES FIRMER. Waipukurau, March 28. There was a large yarding of cattie and a small entry of sheep at Waipukurau to-dav. Values of cattle showed no appreciable change, but passings were frequent. Fat ewes were worth about Is more than last week, but the two best pens were bought for breeding purposes. There was little change in store sheep prices, several lines being passed.

FRANKTON QUOTATIONS. GOOD BIDDING FOR .LAMBS. Hamilton, March 28. There was a heavy yarding of all classes of sheep at the Frankton saleyards to-day. Values for wethers declined compared with last week’s quotations, but ewes increased in price. Lambs were . again penned in large numbers and met with good competition among export buyers, who offered the schedule rates. Fat cattle, which were penned in average numbers, showed little change in values. A good yarding of store cattle, comprising mostly steers, did not attract very keen competition and prices declined. There was a particularly heavy yarding of pigs and prices for baconers showed a decline on late rates, whiie porkers remained unchanged. Prices equal to last week’s .quotations were offered. for good stores. Slips and weaners declined in value. The auctioneers quote as follows:—Sheep: Extra prime fat wethers sold at up to 14s 6d; medium quality wethers, • 12s 6d to 13s; small wethers and maiden ewes, 10s to Ils 3d; prime young ewes, up to 10s; aged fat ewes, 5s 9d to 7s 3d; inferior ewes, 4s 6d; fat lambs, 8s 6d to 11s 6d. Fat cattle: Medium-weight fat steers sold at up to £6 10s; small, to £3 2s; young fat cows and heifers, £3 to £3 10s; fat cows, £2 to £2 12s 6d; inferior fat cows, 32s to 395; vealers, 12s to 265. Store cattle: One pen of Hereford three-year steers, £3 6s; one pen of Shorthorn three-year steers, £2 6s; springing cows and heifers, £2 to £3. Pigs: Heavy baconers, £2 2s to £2 7s; medium baconers, £1 17s to £2 Is; light baconers and heavy porkers, £1 4s to £1 9s; light porkers, 19s to 235; choppers, £1 15s to £2 6s; best stores, 16s to 19s 6d; slips, 10s 6d to 15s 6d; extra good weaners, 10s 6d; smaller weaners, 5s 6d to 8s 6d.
