. Fifty miles westward of Jehol Governor Tangyilin’s considerable force is putting up a fight agains the Japanese. A Shanghai message says Tangyuling, former Governor of Jehol, whose defection originally' contributed to the collapse of the Chinese defence of that province, was arrested by General Sungtiehying’s troops in western Jehol. He made an endeavour to reach Charhar but was apparently thwarted by the swiftness of the Japanese movements. Tangyulin was immediately despatched to Peking under guard and is expected to have to face trial on a capital charge.
