MR. SMITH AND THE WORKERS.

. (To the Editor.) Sir.—l see that our member, Mr, S. G. Smith, spent a short time to-day with the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, at the Criterion Hotel. I think a better purpose would be served if he spent a short time with his electors, explaining the whys and wherefores of many important problems of the day. When approached recently with a request that he should address a meeting of relief workers he said he did not have the time. Now that he is in New Plymouth perhaps he can find the time. Surely he is not afraid of the relief workers.—l am, etc., A RELIEF WORKER. New Plymouth, March 28.
