' Gold is quoted at £6 0s IOJd an ounce, compared with £6 0s 7Jd on Saturday. Silver is 17 7-16 d an ounce spot and 17Jd forward, compared with 17Jd and 17 9-16 d respectively bn Saturday. Silver is quoted at 17 7-16 d. per standard ounce and 18 13-16 d. per fine ounce, compared with 17 11-16 d. and 19 l-16d. respectively on Thursday. • ■ SOUTH BRITISH INSURANCE. By Telegraph—Press Asm- —Copyright London, March 27. At the wool sales 9245 bales were offered, including 3198. from New Zealand, and about 4790 bales were sold. Competition 1 was fair at late rates, but there were signs that the buyer? had covered the bulk of requirements. There were some withdrawals, especially New Zealand crossbreds, owing to the high limits. New Zealand Merinos, greasy, Bankhouse, top lid, average Wd; greasy halfbred, top 9id, average B|d. The Bradford market is very firm, with a fair amount of business. FIGS SELL AT STRATFORD. Newton King Ltd. report a very heavy yarding of pigs at the Stratford Haymarket on Saturday, 246 being sold. There was a good attendance of . buyers and prices were about on a par with the last sale. Small weaners made 4s to 6s 6d, medium weaners 7s to 8s 6d, good weaners up to 12s 6d, small stores 14s to 16s 6d, medium stores 17s to 18s 6d, good stores up to 265.
