TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. The annual meeting of the Taranaki Women’s Teachers’ Association was held at New Plymouth on Saturday. Members were entertained at morning tea. Miss Andrews presided over a large attendance. The election of officers resulted: President. Miss Robertson; vice-presidents, ] Miss Andrews and Mrs. Lea; secretary,
Miss Downes; treasurer, Miss Allen; committee, Misses Burgess, Sheat and Moore; representatives on National Council of Women, Mrs. Ruff and Miss Civil; delegates to annual conference. Mrs. Ruff, Misses Downes and Dalefield.
The following remit was forwarded for consideration at the conference: > “That the age for admission of beginners to primary schools should be determined by suitable mental tests and not by chrono* logical age.” • . .I. aa
