NEW FACTORY FOR HURLEYVILLE.

INCREASE IN PRODUCTION. At a'meeting of Hurleyville factory, suppliers recently it was decided, in view of increased production and the possibility of several new suppliers next season, to build a new factory. The present building is not large enough to cope with the supply. A site ' has not' yet been selected. At present the staff are making about seven cheeses ' more ' per day than in any previous season. Farmers from the Hill are hoping a dual plant will be installed in the new factory, thus making it capable of . absorbing, their cream supply which at present goes out of the district. A meeting of the . hall committee was held on Monday evening. Those present were Miss Scown (secretary), Mrs. Adlam and Messrs. Scown, Adlam and Prouse. It was decided to hold a social on March 24 to celebrate the installation'of the electric light. Mrs. Walker is staying with Mrs. R. HUrley - x J U 1 t Miss Dunbar is expected back from Wellington this • week. ’ . Mr. L. McCartney was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. E. Hurley during the week. MANAIA SCHOOL COMMITTEE. REPORTS TO MONTHLY MEETING. The Manaia school committee met on Wednesday. The headmaster reported that the roll numbers were 231. in the primary school and 40 in the secondary. The Daily News had donated two books for the girl and boy who made most progress and were most useful to the school last year. The books had been awarded to Florence Selby and Geof. Hammonds. The dental nurse reported that children from all schools in the area were hfing treated, the attendances numbering 228 and the operations 493. The ball committee reported that arrangements for the ball on March 31 were going on satisfactorily. A wrong impression was abroad that the proceeds were for sports material. The proceeds were for educational' purposes.
